In June 2009, a consortium led by the University of Groningen was awarded a grant of several million euros within the Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (EM ECW, lot 20). The countries involved are Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador. This particular project makes student and academic staff mobility possible between higher education institutions in Middle America and the European consortium partners. Students and staff who successfully apply will receive a full scholarship for their period of stay at the institution of their choice.
The awarding of the project to the University of Groningen can be seen as a continuation of a successful implementation of the EM ECW programme for Mexico in 2008.
